I have been a psychotherapist since 1988, and throughout my career I've been drawn to models that emphasize healing and adaptation rather than pathology. I have incorporated active intervention techniques
as essential tools to promote healing.
I am committed to lifelong learning and training in new therapeutic approaches. These trauma informed models incorporate how an individuals’ experience and sense of themselves include the body, cognition, behaviors, in addition to understanding the effects of shifting emotional states. I have extensive training in Internal Family Systems (IFS), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (SP), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), hypnosis, and most recently Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). My practice is not wedded to any single model, but instead I believe that each individual comes to therapy with their unique history, their specific experience of pain, and their own strengths and challenges. I tailor how I use my training and skills to meet each client with the right balance of acceptance, safety, and change.
I have worked with individuals, families, and groups and have treated those struggling with anxiety disorders, mood disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder and complex trauma, adult attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, eating disorders, addictions, complicated grief, relationship problems, and the psychological factors and effects of chronic pain and illness.
